When you think of healthy eating, you probably think of salads for every meal, every day. Aside from the fact that eating salad all the time isn’t the way to lose weight, gain muscle or get fit, you’re probably thinking that a salad consists of the same ingredients like lettuce, cucumber, and tomatoes, but you can actually include a lot more flavour and try something new.
If you’re on Instagram or Pinterest, you’ve probably seen thousands of images of delicious salads with meats, nuts, and fruit. That’s the way to make a super salad; they don’t have to be boring.
The best part about salads, other than being guilt-free, is that they can be crafted to different tastes and needs. Vegetarian? Vegan? No problem. There is no set way of creating a salad. You choose what goes in. There isn’t really a limit to what you can and can’t include in a salad. Why not add ingredients like avocado, pumpkin seeds, halloumi, or mango?
A big problem when it comes to healthy eating is that some people think it can be a bit dull and repetitive, but that isn’t true. Compared to takeaways and junk food, healthy foods are packed with more flavours and taste. When you think about it, can you taste anything other than grease and artificial flavours when you’re eating a kebab?
A fantastic way to experiment with different flavours and foods as well as saving money on your weekly shop is to eat seasonally. Instead of buying the same old foods all year round, why not buy fruits and vegetables that are in season? Keep the strawberries for the summer and pears for the winter.
A delicious way to mix up your salad and be even healthier is swapping out standard salad dressing for lemon juice. Not only is citrus fruit good for you, but it also adds a zesty twist to a salad.
